(Google Hangouts has been renamed as Google Meet.)

Salaams Teachers,

1️⃣We are in the process of implementing stricter security measures over our Google Meet online sessions.

2️⃣ALL parents have by now received an email with the username / password for their children’s JSID (Jafaria School ID). ALL students (whether you are doing an online class or not) have a JSID now.

3️⃣A Google Calendar invitation has been emailed to ALL students. The meeting invites are no longer being shared to parents’ email addresses.

4️⃣Students should NOT be joining the Meet sessions with their personal Gmail IDs. Only their JSIDs.

Security Enhancements Coming Soon

1️⃣Google has announced that it will soon be upgrading Google Meet so that only teachers can control students’ microphones. We are in touch with Google technical support to find out how soon that upgrade will be available.

2️⃣During your online class, if you (or your students) receive a pop-up message saying that so and so person is requesting to join the class, do NOT admit them to the class, unless you recognize who they are.

3️⃣Starting from 4/12/2020, we will be implementing a new feature that will further restrict unauthorized people from being able to join the class altogether.

4️⃣Teachers should NOT give out their meeting IDs to anyone. All students are expected to join their respective Meet classes by clicking on the link that was sent to them in their Jafaria School calendar invite.

5️⃣If a student messages you saying they don’t have their JSID or they can’t find their meeting invite, please have them contact the Jafaria School Help Desk. (Contact details are on the website.)

6️⃣All teachers can join their Meet by following the same instructions as the students.

7️⃣The meeting IDs will be changed every week.

These security measures are being taken to protect the privacy of our online sessions against unauthorized access.
